  "The Beloved"

  They are Light from Above,
Cream puffs of this Earth,
That Whip Cream we all so relish,
Light as a Goose feather on the wind, and as an Eagles topknot....
Not ever to be mistaken,
They are Maltese
And I can see them dancing across the "Rainbow Bridge"
In Great Anticipation!
 Yes!
They are the Beloved.

"Gone Too Soon"

Like A Comet
Blazing 'Cross The Evening Sky
Gone Too Soon

Like A Rainbow
Fading In The Twinkling Of An Eye
Gone Too Soon

Shiny And Sparkly
And Splendidly Bright
Here One Day
Gone One Night

Like The Loss Of Sunlight
On A Cloudy Afternoon
Gone Too Soon

Like A Castle
Built Upon A Sandy Beach
Gone Too Soon

Like A Perfect Flower
That Is Just Beyond Your Reach
Gone Too Soon

Born To Amuse, To Inspire, To Delight
Here One Day
Gone One Night

Like A Sunset
Dying With The Rising Of The Moon
Gone Too Soon

-MUFFI  MC MURPHY-

Muffi with grandson Scott
scottyandmuffi2.jpg
Muffi had unending patience and love for the grandchildren.

animation01o1.gif

Miss Muffi Mc Murphy was born in 1983. She went to Rainbow Bridge in 1995.

Miss Mc Murphy was the very first dog I ever owned.  She was also the first dog Doug and I owned together after we were married.

Muffi was a beautiful Australian Terrier.  She was a puppymill girl ... we bought her from a pet shop before we knew better.  However, she was the most  adorable puppy.  We fell in love and bonded with each other immediately.  She became my constant shadow and companion.

Muff was afraid of nothing.  More than once, she caused our hearts to stop with her antics and "hard headedness."  She acurately followed her breed's description and was a fierce snake and rodent (squirrels too, unfortunately) killer.  She would literally tear any snake in two by grabing it between her sharp and powerful teeth, whipping it around and slamming it to the ground.  She was a dedicated "protector"... always with me while gardening and working in the yard.

Muffi loved other dogs and cats.  She adored the grandkids, their games, their food and their attention.  She could keep up with them till they wore out ... her energy knew no bounds.  She was gentle with them, kind and loving ... forgiving any accidental pain they may have caused her.

Muffi had many keen senses that we were never able to figure out.  She always knew when Doug was coming home and would sit by the door 20 to 25 minutes before he would pull up in the driveway.  Her ability to know when a pizza was coming was another puzzle but she would sit by the door waiting for it to arrive.

Retrieving and tricks were her strong suit.  You could teach Muffi anything and she would remember it always.  Our girl was extremely smart and she could also read your mind.  If you cried or were upset,  she was immediately by your side comforting you.  If you were mad at her and gave her a stern look or spoke in an angry tone, she would look ashamed and crushed.  There are no words to express how special she was.

Miss Mc Murphy assisted in all things and was a hard worker.  On cleaning days she was totally exhausted by the end of the day from following me around.  Laundry days were special because she could dive between the clothes and play.  Weekends were filled with swimming in the pool and running around the yard with the grand-kids or going to the lake.  Cooking in the kitchen was a favorite of course.  She would keep the floors sparkling clean and was a willing "taste tester."

There was no dog more faithful, loyal, loving, kind, compassionate or one that was a better companion.

Muffi died of esophageal cancer at the age of 12.  She gave us our great love of canines and their wonderful spirit.  She will be remembered always and one day we will all be together again.

-SUGAR BEAR-

animation01o1.gif

Sugar Bear was born on October 16, 1993.
She went to "Rainbow Bridge" on November 12, 2003.

Sugar Bear was our first Maltese.  She was a rescued "puppymill" girl who had many physical problems which had to be corrected by multiple surgeries.  In spite of all her traumas and pain, she lived a full and happy life.  She was surrounded by those she loved and who loved her both human and canine alike.  Sugar Bear was a gentle, loving  and kind Maltese.  Her sweet soul was reflected in her expressive eyes.  She was a "comforter" and always wanted to be near you.  She could calm you with her presence.  At the end of her life, Sugar Bear fought with all her heart and soul to survive ... even when everything was against that possibility.  She was a very brave and courageous Maltese.   Her love was strongest in her final days and continues to live within all of us today.  She left an enormous hole in our hearts and in our lives that will never be filled.  We miss her terribly.
Sugar will remain with us ... forever .

We will see you again one day sweet Sug.......

-PEPPERMINT PATTI-

animation01o1.gif

Peppermint Patti was born on October 8, 1988.  She went to Rainbow Bridge on
August 31,2004.

Peppermint Patti was a beautiful Australian Silky Terrier.  She too was a rescued "Puppymill" girl.  Before she was even a year old, she had surgery on a necrotic hip.  She bounced back from the operation like it was nothing at all!

Pepper was a born little comedian, always full of fun and full of life.  She loved all the grand- children and grew up with them.  Never once did she growl or attempt to bite them.  Even when they were a little rough with her she never seemed to mind.  She was a tough for such a little monkey!   Pepper loved the grand-children's games and enjoyed playing and eating with them.

Her most unique and memorable attribute was her devotion to any new puppy or dog that came to live in our home.  She would make it her mission to welcome the "new one" and protect it from day one.  Until she was absolutely sure the "new one" was safe, she assigned herself as their body guard.  Safe to her meant she had to be certain, in her own mind,  all the other dogs in the house were not going to harm the "new one" in any way.  Pepper would place her tiny self between the "new one" and the other dogs.  It was very exhausting work for her but she took it very seriously and never let up.  She was like a protective mother, always hovering around the "new one."  When the day arrived that she knew it was finally safe, she would back off and let the others join in the play.  As a testament to Pepper, she continued her job until the very end.  She made it her final mission in life to make sure yet another "new one" was welcomed and safe.

Pepper had many issues at the end of her life but always adjusted to each and every one that came her way.  Nothing ever seemed to get her down ... she was a tough, positive and brave little package.  She had the tenacity of a Pit Bull.  Peppermint was almost totally deaf, could barely see and arthritis was crippling her to the point she could barely walk.  She never seemed to be in any pain however.  She started loosing her hair, her body looked emaciated due to the loss of muscle tone, there were lumps and bumps all over her and she seemed totally out of it most of the time.  However, there were those golden moments she would appear to come out of her cloud and know what was happening around her.  As mentioned, a week before she died, she welcomed her final "new one" in her old familar way.  Then when her job was done she went down hill quickly.   One morning she appeared to have had a stroke and could barely stand, her hind quarters totally gave out on her.  We made the decision to take her to the Vet and help her to "Rainbow Bridge" on that day.  She died at the age of 16.  Pepper was a pure joy and we will miss her spirit and remember her always.

Till we meet again sweet Pep......

-MANDI ROSE-

animation01o1.gif

Mandi Rose was born on March 1, 1995.  She went to Rainbow Bridge on August 9, 2007.

We adopted our beloved Maltese, Mandi Rose from a local Marine Veterinarian at 8 weeks of age.

Mandi along with our Australian Terrier, Muffi Mc Murphy were by far the smartest dogs in our household, past and present.

Mandi had an attitude and it showed.  She knew she was superior from the time she came to live with us.  You see, she thought of herself as a human.  In no way did she consider herself a lowly dog!  Always a "quick study" in all things, she never forgot anything.  Her "drama queen" persona made her unique.  Mandi had certain "rituals" throughout the day that she kept throughout her life and she was also a very organized Maltese!

When Mandi was a puppy my husband, Doug was still working in his medical practice, so she was "my girl."  That only lasted until he retired, at which time she instantly became "his girl," totally and completely!  She was thoroughly obsessed with Doug and he with her.  If it is possible, this obsession grew  more intense over time.  Mandi was "Doug's Princess"  and he lovingly called her "Pin-cess".  The two of them were inseparable and they adored each other.  Where he was in the house,  she had to be also.  If she wasn't near him because there was a door or gate between them, she would go into her "drama queen" mode.  She would  would then carry on for hours if necessary.  Mandi's routine would begin by howling, wimpering and whining, then progress to making unusual and pathetic moans and groans.  This would continue until someone gave in and let her go to where he was, then she was at peace with the world.  We never understood how she managed to keep from loosing her voice but it would get weak after a while.   Mandi would choose Doug over anything and everything else in life ... even food!  Her  love, obsession and undying loyalty to him were constant and boundless.  She only came to me when she was ill or needed something.

During the times, Doug was a patient in the hospital, she would not leave her post at the window.  There she would sit patiently watching and waiting for him to come home.  Her total disappointment at seeing me return home without him was so obvious by the look she would give me.  Her vigil lasted all day and into the night, for as long as he was gone.  She would grieve his not being home to the point we were concerned because she would hardly eat anything.  Mandi would finally give in at bedtime and leave her post but only as long as she could sleep on his side of the bed.

Mandi Rose loved to retrieve and would do so for hours.  She was more or less a loner with the other canines in the family.  They were just lowly dogs you see.  Oh she liked their company but they were simply not on her intelligence level and she would remind them of that from time to time.

Mandi dearly loved being bathed and groomed.  However, the main reason she loved it so much was because  of what happened afterward.  When she was finished, smelling so wonderful, snow white and beautiful with her new bow proudly on her top knot she would run to  Doug.  Atn this time he would tell her she was "so pretty."  Her favorite words became " so pretty."   If he was remiss and did not tell her she was "so pretty," she was extremely disappointed and would not rest till he did.

At the age of twelve, Mandi was diagnosed for the first time with a severe heart murmur and she subsequently went into congestive heart failure.  She knew she was ill and would come to me automatically twice a day for her medications.  Mandi was very  co-operative throughout her illness.  Within 4 months of her diagnosis she left us to go to Rainbow Bridge.  Mandi did not want to leave us.  For two days and two nights she could not lie down because she could not breathe in that position.  Though totally exhausted, she fought to stay awake and on her feet near us.

We will always remember and miss this dear, sweet and loyal  girl.  She was such a large part of all our lives.

Anjil Nichole was born on July 28, 2000.  She went to Rainbow Bridge on December 12, 2008.

Anjil was another rescued Maltese and sister to Tiphani Leigh who is still with us.  She was the most beautiful, tiny Maltese.  She had a long, silky, "to die for" coat and beautiful sweet eyes.

Anjil was not a vocal girl but she was so very affectionate and loved to chase her tail.  She would not lick you on the face but would nibble on your hand, arm or finger like she was flea biting you or Anjil's expression of love.   Afraid of thunder and lightening she would insist on being held during storms.  She loved a soft and cushy bed and would always make herself a nest before curling up to sleep.
Anjil loved her bath more so than any of the other canines.  As soon as you would set her in the bathing sink, she would close her eyes and tilt her head back so that you could wash her head.

Our beautiful Anjil developed a large and very aggressive Mast Cell tumor on her right shoulder.  It was in a rare place compared to most mast cell tumors.  Usually they are raised lumps visible on the skin.  This tumor was not detected as early as it should have been because it grew underneath the cartilage at the leg and collar bone joint.  This first tumor was removed in surgery and within six weeks it returned with a vengeance.  The only thing that could have been tried would have been to remove her leg and put her through Chemo.  We were advised the tumor had probably already metastasized.  We elected not to put her through the pain and suffering for a slim to none chance.  After we made the decision to just try and keep her comfortable, she only lived another three months.

Anjil was very brave, never complained, fought all the problems that went along with the tumor every step of the way.  She was a compliant patient till the end. Her eyes said that she wanted to stay with us but the problems mounted until it was too difficult to watch her try and deal with everything.   We helped her to "Rainbow Bridge" on the 12th of December, 2008.

Anjil was the sweetest of dogs and a loyal companion.  She will be deeply missed.

Til we see you again sweet Anj...........
